You could land this on your own property (local laws may vary)! This is a relatively light weight project, but not ultralight, hence the 'experimental' moniker. When done, your craft should weigh in around 550 to 600 pounds. It will carry a payload of roughly 375 pounds (yes, that includes you, so stay on that diet!), and will have a flying range of roughly 70 miles.
While this is not exactly for the toolset novice, it is not a very hard project, the most important ingredient being patience. The picture above and to the left is from my extensive collection of airborne stuff and does not represent what your 'copter will look like once it is done.
